Greg Guy on Radio Ownership Caps & Consolidation
Tideline Partners Founder and Managing Partner Greg Guy was recently featured in Radio World discussing how radio broadcasters are responding to the possibility of changes to the FCC’s local ownership rules.
While the FCC continues to consider potential changes to existing ownership limits, Guy noted that some broadcasters are already pursuing strategic opportunities to consolidate beyond the current caps through waiver requests.
The activity suggests that the transaction market is beginning to move ahead of formal regulatory changes. Guy expects deal activity to accelerate as broadcasters evaluate opportunities to strengthen their market positions and reshape their portfolios.
However, increased transaction volume may not necessarily translate into higher station valuations. Market conditions and the financial position of potential buyers will remain important factors as consolidation develops.
Guy’s comments reflect Tideline Partners’ ongoing work at the intersection of broadcast transactions, valuation and the evolving regulatory environment.
